Performing Arts

Children’s Choir, Mr. Nelan – Music Director: The students in grades 4-8 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy are invited to join Our Lady of Lourdes Children’s Choir. The Children’s Choir performs at the family Mass on Sundays and has special presentations throughout the year.

Band, Ms. Wilkie – moderator: Paul Effman Music comes into the school to teach students in grades 1-2 violin and grades 3-8 musical instruments; clarinet, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, xylophone, and drums. The students in the band program play for the academy during the Christmas Pageant and at the end of the year. Several of our students have made honor band the past few years.

A Taste of Broadway: This program for boys and girls 5th grade and up focuses on dance, acting, singing and musical numbers from Broadway shows. Taught by Ms. Daryl Richardson, a veteran of Broadway, television and film. For more information, call 718-864-8158 or email Dar7Rich6458@gmail.com.

Stages on the Sound: This program is a theatre education program under the direction of our Director of Education, Scott Barrow and it is offered to Grades 4, 6 and 8 in our school.  Beginning in 2009 Stages began to pilot semester long performing arts residencies in elementary schools in Queens.  Since that time, Stages has partnered with the Diocese of Brooklyn to provide long-term residencies to over 50 parochial schools in Brooklyn and Queens which provides film, playwriting and Shakespeare education to over 16,000 students every week. In 2014, Stages expanded its in- school programming to 4 schools in the Diocese of Albany, NY.

Clubs

Aquinas Club, Ms. Monde and Mrs. Kaminski – moderators: The Aquinas Club is an academic club for students to broaden their knowledge. In the spring, the Aquinas Club showcases what they have learned at the Diocese of Brooklyn Aquinas Expo.

Book Club: Mrs. Lucey-moderator: Open to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy’s junior high students, the Book Club allows our student readers to read and discuss a book in a less formal setting. The meetings consist of discussions and a literacy-based student activity to bring the book to life.

Student Council, Mrs. Glauner, Mrs. DiGruccio, and Mrs. Rasa – moderators: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy works together to make our school a great place. The students meet to discuss ways they can help out OLLCA and the Queens Village Community.

Lego Club, K-2nd Grade: Mrs. Di Gruccio & Mrs. Brechtlein

Sports Fun Club: Ms. Alyssa Gulino-fun times with our PE teacher after school.

Chess Club: offered by Chess Wizards-if you are brand new to the game, they will teach you the basics and if you’re a seasoned checkmate artist, they’ll show you new ways to let your creativity loose on and off the chess board.

Robotics Club: Welcome to the World of Robotics!  This program is designed to introduce students to the principles of robotics, computer programming, and teamwork.  

Soccer Clinic: offered by the Soccer School of Excellence and teaches boys and girls soccer once a week and focuses on team work, listening skills, organization and discipline.

Sports

Our Lady of Lourdes CYO Sports for boys and girls ages 5-14 include basketball, track & field, and swim teams.

Two Children – $200
Three Children – $240
Each Additional Child – $30

Instructional Swimming for children 6 to 12 years of age is available for a separate registration fee.
